Faculty Textbook Ordering

As an instructor at South Central College, you will need to let Tami Steinke, our Course Materials Buyer, know if you will be requiring any materials each semester you are teaching a course. Please e-mail her at [email protected] with the following information for each course you are teaching:

  • Subject, Course #, and Section (Ex. BIOL 100-01)
  • Estimated Enrollment
  • Author
  • Title
  • ISBN
  • Publisher
  • Is material required, recommended, or optional?
  • Is an eBook allowed to be offered? (Y/N)
  • Will this be a Cengage Unlimited Inclusive Access course? (Y/N)
  • Will this be an Inclusive Access course? (Y/N)
  • Are you interested in learning more about Inclusive Access and how we may be able to offer your course materials to students through D2L? (Y/N)

Examples of course materials:

Inclusive Access, Physical books, eBooks/Access Codes, Lab or Lecture Packets, Supply Kits, Required Supplies (calculator, goggles, lab coats, culinary hats & aprons). *Please remember to include any optional or recommended materials.

If you will not require any materials for a course, meaning no items need to be purchased or acquired by the students for the course, please let Tami know. These courses will be listed as “No Text Required” on the bookstore website and the student e-services page.

Inclusive Access

Inclusive Access (IA) is a course material model in collaboration with publishers that converts books into digital content. All students enrolled in a class get access to the content on the first day of class through D2L and will be billed automatically on their student account.

The IA fee will be added to each student's account during the second week of the semester, after the drop/add period has ended. The registration page displays the amount that will be charged for Inclusive Access under the textbook information. After the Add/Drop date, all enrolled students, who have not chosen to opt-out of the Inclusive Access materials or dropped the course, will be charged the Inclusive Access fee. This will show as a New Textbook Charge on student accounts. The exact amount charged can be found under each course on this site.

Out of Print Titles

Out of Print Titles are materials that are no longer being printed by a publisher and are not available in a newer edition. We may have difficulty acquiring enough copies of out of print titles to supply them for a course. If a title has gone out of print, we will reach out to request an alternative textbook or edition change.

Desk Copies

Faculty members can request a copy of the textbook (desk copy) for their own use free of charge from most publishers. These items need to be requested by faculty members through the publisher or publisher representative - we are unable to order desk copies for faculty.
